Cabling

All JS-50 models operate over a single Cat6A cable each, combining power supply via PoE with Gigabit Ethernet.

JoeScan offer pre-confectioned cables of various lengths on the Accessories page.

If you need cables with a different length, please contact JoeScan or look in the Alternatives section below.

M12 Connector Exit Orientation

MX, WX, WSC models

All cables available from JoeScan have the cable exit to the left when looking at the connector end of the housing, with the laser facing forward:

Warning

Do not try to loosen the lock ring to change orientation, this will void the warranty and break the seal on the housing.

X6B and Z8 models

On the X6B and Z8, the cable exits towards the center of the housing:

If you need to have a different cable exit orientation (due to e.g. space constraints), please contact JoeScan or look in the Alternatives section below.

Field termination

If necessary, the RJ45 end can be field terminated:

Field termination of the M12 end is not recommended.

Alternatives

As long as the following criteria are fulfilled, cables from other manufacturers can be used:

  • Cat6A or better
  • 10GBit Ethernet (IEEE 802.3an)
  • M12 X-Coded jack
  • Correct pinout (see above)
