Server Log

Diagnostics Page

Each JS-50 has a built-in web server, serving a diagnostics web page. As explained in the IP Addressing section, a ScanHead uses mDNS to register it's name on the local network, so you can access the page via:

http://js-50-SERIAL.local:8080

Server Page Example

This page is mostly to assist JoeScan support in troubleshooting. Depending on your model, you may see different sections and files. The only item of interest is server.log.

Clicking on the link for server.log will download the file. Choose a suitable location and click Save.

Server Log File Name

For all firmware revisions below 16.3, the default name is server.log, which makes is cumbersome to download and organize files from multiple ScanHeads. We recommend naming the file after the serial number, in case JoeScan support is requesting the file. In newer firmware revisions, the file name is already preset and will not lead to conflicts.

Purpose and Contents

The Server Log is a simple text file, containing diagnostic messages from the individual components of the firmware. Please have a copy of this file ready to send when contacting JoeScan support with questions or problems.

Server Log is deleted upon reboot

The Server Log is only kept in memory on the ScanHead and will be deleted upon a reboot! If you encounter problems while scanning, make sure to download the file before power-cycling or rebooting the ScanHead.

Diagnostics Workspace in JsSetup

JsSetup offers a convenient way to inspect and download the log file. To do so, go to the Diagnostics Workspace. By default, JsSetup will download the log file for each in the ScanSystem, and present it in a tabular, searchable and filterable form:
